Beginning from arcade games, desktop computer games, to mobile games, the gaming industry has undergone a major transformation since its inception. As technology got modernized, so did the gaming industry. Now, you have games distributed and played over the internet. Many gaming companies have shifted their focus to the internet to distribute and advertise games, and one such distribution platform is Steam.

Before learning how to change Steam font, let us first understand a bit about this digital gaming platform.

Steam is the first-ever digital gaming distribution platform and one of the most well-known gaming platforms available in the world of PC gaming. Although the platform was created to tailor PC games, now the platform is also catering to home-based video games from Xbox and Sony Playstation.

Created by Valve Corporation and launched in 2003, the distribution platform boasts millions of users. This platform was solely created for gamers and game developers. It is an online platform where gamers and developers can create, play, buy, sell, and discuss games.

The platform hosts a huge library of games designed not only by big and small gaming companies but also individual creators. It is a cloud-based gaming platform where users don’t need to download a copy of the game on their computers. It allows users to create a Steam account where they can store a huge collection of games, ultimately saving computer memory.

To use Steam, you can download the application on your computer. After downloading and installing the application, you should then create a Steam account to access the digital library of games.

For game developers, the Steam platform offers developers to self-publish their games. By creating a store page, a publisher can release the game and also inform the users about the game. That said, updates are a huge part of any product’s life cycle. There will be a time when the developers have to fix bugs in the game and such fixes will help in improving the performance of the game. The steam platform allows developers to do exactly that. It offers developers to patch their games anytime and thus offer their audience a better gaming experience. After fixing issues, the developers can use Steam’s Community page to announce the changes made to the game, to their audience. Doing so will help the audience to download the game patches that are necessary for updating the game.

That said, Steam also supports chat. It allows gamers to do text as well as voice chat. They can add their friends and chat with them. They can also join a group chat and chat with random people. However, all these group chats are not game-related. These chat rooms can also be places where other entertainment-related content can be discussed. When talking about Steam’s community page, gamers can discuss a trending game, write a review of any game, make suggestions to improve the game, or provide ratings to a game.

Speaking of the cost of the games, many of the games have a price tag to them. Some games can cost a dollar and games which are developed by well-known companies can cost around 60 to 70 dollars. That said, the platform also offers gamers to save money on the games. Steam has special sales where gamers get the opportunity to buy games at discounted prices.

The Steam application runs on different platforms including Windows, Linux, macOS, and more. All you need is a stable internet connection and a modern laptop or a desktop computer to play your favorite games.
